Market Manager's Notes
Two new producers have joined the market. John Savage of Teify Cheese will be expanding the range of artisan cheeses
and a nd some more microbrewd beers from The Untapped Brewing Company. (click on the links for more information)
They will be joining forces with some of the most highly regarded producers in the UK. Trealy Farm Charcuterie won the 2009 Best Food Producer Award on Radio 4's Food Programme
and is in good company with Diana Smart who was one of the three finalists in 2007. Other producers at the market have a staggering array of awards too numerous to list and the market
continues to provide some of the finest local foods available. The market has had a long relationshiop with Usk Fair Trade with which it shares many aims, most importantly: that
food producers, world wide, should retain a greater share of the wealth they have created. The Usk market is an example where this is acheived by producers selling their produce direct
and Ruth Prince will be at the market with her Usk Fair Trade Stall to mark the beginning of the Fair Trade Fortnight
starting next Monday.
