Markets on the move

There has been a number of changes in market location of late. Newport Farmers' Market has returned to John frost Square under new management the Sketty Local Produce Market has relocated to Bishop Gore Comprehensive school. Llandrindod Wells Farmers' Market was threatened with closure after the Llandrindodd Wells Action Team announced,in September, it would no longer run the market. A number of stall holders have got together and the good news is the market will continue under their management. The market has moved to the High Street and further information may be obtained by contacting Joanne Nixon (07891064831).

After a recent conflict with the Memorial Hall Management Committee the Usk Market has taken up residency in the adjacent Scout Centenary Hall. Although this new building in considerably smaller than the Memorial it is beautifully appointed and the two markets that have been held there have worked well. Stephen Shearman (manager) says the move has resulted in the need to use more outdoor stalls which is not ideal for this time of year but the inexorable increases in the rent at the Memorial Hall has meant a reappraisal of the longer term implications on the market's sustainability.
